The Ministry of Education in 2027 will introduce a profile exam for pedagogical universities

Applicants of pedagogical universities from 2027 will begin to pass the profile exam, said the head of the Ministry of Education Sergey Kravtsov. He recalled that earlier entrants of pedagogical universities passed exams in specialized subjects - for example, a mathematics teacher passed an exam in mathematics. Now, instead of profile exams, they pass the exam on social studies.

“From next year, we will return this practice. Applicants entering the pedagogical direction will take the subject in their direction. The subject depends on the profile of preparation, said Mr. Kravtsov in an interview with RIA Novosti.

There is a shortage of young teachers in Russian schools: almost half of teachers are over 50 years old, according to the data of the consulting company SBS. According to the calculations of the Higher School of Economics, the number of aspiring teachers has almost halved over the past 40 years. The Ministry of Education assures that the demand for pedagogical education is growing.
