The Emergencies Ministry of Russia will hold an interdepartmental exercise to work out emergency situations in the Arctic in July 2027. Training events will be held along the route of the Transarctic Transport Corridor.

“For an ordinary person, this is a desert, cold desert, and for units of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, this land will become the main training platform,” the ministry said in a statement.

The Emergencies Ministry has been conducting the Safe Arctic exercise since 2021. Every two years, rescuers work out various scenarios of accidents in the polar night: from the evacuation of passengers from distressed ships to the elimination of environmental and man-made disasters. In 2025, more than 50 emergency personnel from almost 20 countries participated in the exercise.
