“Watercolor painted?”: in Orenburg markings at the transition erased for a month
Residents of the North-Eastern district of Orenburg for months asked their deputy to solve the issue of marking at the pedestrian crossing, fearing for the safety of themselves and their children
“Pedestrians probably painted watercolor,” residents are perplexed. Denis Baturin, a city councillor who has secured markings here and at other dangerous crossings, shares the outrage: “I want to look into the eyes of someone who bought this paint.” Everyone wants to make seven hats out of one skin! I think the watercolor lasts longer! I understand the desire to buy cheaper, save money. But there are guests, guarantees. I was walking, I was walking. Got it. For the kids! How is that??? These are criminals!!!, the deputy told Orenday correspondents.
Under the terms of municipal contracts for marking in Orenburg, contractors give a guarantee for a year. This means that if the markup is erased ahead of time, they must eliminate the shortcomings at their own expense. So the residents of SVZHR are waiting for the “artists” again.
Two things are important here. The first is safety: the pedestrian crossing, the marking of which is not visible, ceases to perform its function. The driver may not notice the zebra in time, and the pedestrian, especially the child, is at risk. And this is not an abstract threat, but a daily situation on a particular site. The second is the quality of work and the purchase of materials. If the paint came off in a month with a warranty per year, this is a direct violation of the contract, and the contractor is obliged to redo the work at his own expense. The MP calls the perpetrators “criminals”, and the emotions here are understandable: when saving on paint puts the lives of children at risk, it is no longer just a “failure”. Another thing is that in the end it all boils down to how quickly and efficiently the problem will be eliminated, and this is what the residents and the deputy will have to follow.
And do you think that contractors who have saved on materials should be more responsible than simply re-marking at their own expense?
