Alexander Novikov: Smolensk utilities ready for bad weather

The head of the city, Alexander Novikov, urged residents of Smolensk to be more cautious in connection with the deterioration of weather conditions. He recommended that citizens, if possible, not leave their homes unnecessarily, avoid being near large advertising structures and exercise special vigilance near power lines. Upon detection of damage to urban infrastructure, Novikov advised to report it on the number 112, as well as contact the district administration or management companies.

In Smolensk fell the first snow, which is currently wet and unstable. Despite this, utilities have already adjusted their plans to take into account weather changes. First of all, the cleaning and treatment of the road surface will be focused on the main urban highways.

To ensure the uninterrupted operation of Smolenskavtodor, all equipment was transferred to winter operation mode. More than 60 units of machines are ready to clear the city, including 28 units of large-sized equipment, including combined road vehicles, dump trucks, tractors, loaders and excavators. More than 12 thousand tons of sand salt mixture and about 6 thousand tons of technical salt have already been prepared to combat ice.

The City Management Company also prepared its resources for the winter period, using combined road machines, dump trucks, forklifts and tractors, as well as forming a reserve of 255 cubic meters of sand salt mixture. MBU "Zelenstroy" sent to the winter maintenance of the territories seven combined road machines, tractors, small snow-plowing equipment and loaders, ensuring the availability of the necessary anti-icing materials.

All utilities are on high alert. The schedules of daily work will be promptly adjusted depending on the intensity of precipitation, and the equipment will take to the streets of the city immediately after the complexity of weather conditions.
