An expert group meeting on business registers is being held in Geneva as part of the programme of the UNECE Conference of European Statisticians. This was reported in the National Statistical Committee, writes sb.by.

The event brought together about 90 experts from around the world to exchange experience and best practices in the development and maintenance of statistical business registers.
- The participants focused on topical topics related to statistical units and their characteristics, as well as the use of new technologies in maintaining statistical business registers, including the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning. Within the framework of the session on statistical units, Belarusian statisticians presented their national experience in geocoding statistical business register units using specially developed software and a service for working with geoinformation.
The Republic of Belarus is represented at the meeting by Belstat specialists – First Deputy Chairman Timofey Zhigarev and Head of the Statistical Register Department Svetlana Nichiporuk.
- Thanks to the productive integration of state registers, open geodata and public geoservices, Belstat ensured high quality and accuracy of geocoding, and also received modern tools for spatial data analysis - clustering of point objects, heat maps and hexagonal grids. The developed software product completely solved the problem of spatial binding of statistical business register units, said Timofey Zhigarev.
