Belarus seriously injured in UAV attack in Bryansk region

A Belarusian citizen was seriously injured in a UAV attack on a truck with a Belarusian registration on October 8 in the Bryansk region of Russia. This was told by the press Secretary of the foreign Ministry Ruslan Varankov, reports the correspondent of the Agency “Minsk-Novosti”.

According to BelTA, Varankov said that due to the serious injuries received, the woman needed surgery, including amputation of the limbs.

- Currently, the victim is in the intensive care unit in an extremely serious but stabilized condition. It's connected to an artificial ventilator. Medical assistance is provided in full, — said the press Secretary of the foreign Ministry.

He stressed that the diplomats of the Belarusian Embassy in Russia and the offices of the embassy in Smolensk provide the necessary assistance and are in contact with local authorities and a medical institution.

- We regret to note that such tragic incidents continue. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus previously warned about the increased danger and recommended that citizens refrain from traveling to this area. However, these warnings have not had the proper effect. Today’s incident confirms the relevance of the recommendation, Varankov said.

According to him, the committed act - the attack of the UAV - is inhumane. The Foreign Ministry sees it as an attempt to escalate the situation in the region, as well as an integral part of coordinated actions aimed at involving Belarus in the conflict.
