The economist told what surcharges and benefits lose working pensioner
A working pensioner retains a basic insurance pension, but social allowances and rural surcharges can be canceled.

Many retirees are considering employment opportunities to improve their well-being. However, as RSSU Associate Professor Alisa Khramova warns, going to work is a kind of financial trap.
The employment insurance pension itself is maintained. But social supplements to the subsistence minimum are reserved exclusively for non-working citizens. As soon as you officially get a job, this allowance burns down. Other bonuses are also affected: a 25% rural flat payment surcharge, as well as some regional benefits (for example, compensation for capital repairs), which depend on local legislation and family composition.
There's good news. Since 2025, working pensioners are again indexed insurance pensions. And after the dismissal, the state will recalculate payments taking into account all missed indexations for the period from 2016 to 2024.
But the main danger lies in bureaucracy. The expert emphasizes: do not expect that the employer will decide everything and the benefits will be canceled automatically. If you continue to receive money to which you are no longer entitled, overpayment is formed. And this illegally obtained income, the Social Fund will demand to return in full.
Therefore, before going to work, you need to arm yourself with a calculator. Compare future salary with the amount of surcharges lost, not forgetting to deduct new expenses for travel, lunches and work clothes. There is no universal recipe for benefit – it all depends on the specific situation.
