The expert explained whether there are threats to the population of bears due to hunger and shooting

Those bears that can’t find enough food and continue to search can die. This is a natural process that does not harm the entire population. This was stated by Doctor of Biological Sciences Alexander Savchenko.

“It is that surplus population which will either die of starvation, or which will eventually be taken out of nature. This is a normal selection, which has always been, the expert said.

Earlier it was reported that since the beginning of 2026 in Buryatia destroyed 507 bears. Over the past week, 25 trips were recorded due to the appearance of predators in settlements. At the same time, the danger remains: bears can lie dormant only by the end of November - early December. Residents are asked to be careful not to go into the forest.
