The wing in the center of St. Petersburg at any time can collapse on passers-by
Our city was founded in the XVIII century, but the buildings erected in that century, preserved in St. Petersburg not so much relative to other historical buildings. According to various estimates, all residential buildings older than 230 years about a hundred and a half. And unfortunately, they may become less.

During a regular walk on Vasilievsky Island, we drew attention to the wing located at the 4th line V.O., 39b, which, as it turned out, has been in a deplorable state for many years. The 1790 architectural monument collapses and poses a threat to the residents of the neighboring house. The wing literally split in half, and one part of the building hung over the front of the neighboring house. We could not ignore the situation in which historical heritage is being destroyed.
For information about the likely fate of the building, we appealed to the Committee on State Control, Use and Protection of Historical Monuments (KGIOP), headed by Alexei Mikhailov. Employees of the department told us that even before the 1990s the outbuilding was residential. The building is now privately owned. In 2021, the owner was obliged to preserve the architectural monument, carry out first emergency work, and then restoration. But the owner did not fulfill his security obligations. The case went to trial. The defendant was one Rosa Tabelyan.
In the database of the Rusprofile portal, we found only one St. Petersburg entrepreneur named Rosa Tabelyan. She is the sole owner of Aranna Hotel LLC, which is engaged in the rental and management of real estate in the Northern capital. It should be noted that, according to Rusprofile, the financial indicators of Aranna Hotel LLC demonstrate instability. In 2025, revenue decreased by 25%, to 17.9 million rubles, and instead of profit 5.2 million rubles a year earlier, the company went into minus by 340 thousand rubles.
At the end of August, the Krasnoselsky District Court ordered the defendant Roza Tabelyan to develop and agree with the KGIOP project documentation for the restoration of the outbuilding within a year from the date of entry into force of the decision. The papers, according to the editorial office, have not yet been received by the department.
Well, let's hope the court's decision pushes the building owner to fulfill his obligations as soon as possible. However, given the condition of the wing reconstruction can be extremely expensive. And in this case, what will the owner choose: to pay penalties for non-performance of works or to carry out expensive and complex restoration?
The stone is northern (destructing) and southern (lit. B) The wings were built in the first half of the nineteenth century. During this period, they flanked the main wooden house.
The buildings are made in the style of orderless classicism and are examples of urban residential buildings of the XVIII century. Both buildings retained their spatial solution, symmetrical composition and decoration of the facades.
The wings form the historical front of the construction of the 4th line of Vasilievsky Island, flanking the space of the square. This is a rare example of an urban residential complex in which the main house located in the center of the plot was wooden, and the side wings were stone.
At the beginning of the XX century, the wooden house was dismantled. A garden was set up in its place.
