There is only one entry in the work book of the seller Elena Kuleshova: she has been working in GUM for more than 35 years and sees only advantages in her profession. A department store specialist not only sells goods, but helps to choose an image for any case. Rare aesthetic talent and hard work allowed Elena to become one of the 13 lucky people awarded the honorary title of “Minskan of the Year”.

- I do what I like, and I consider the work of my life useful, because I help women find new facets of their image and feel the most beautiful, says the bottom of the heroines of the Year of the Belarusian woman. Belarusians strive for aesthetics in everything. We are not only beautiful in spirit, but also have our own unique style. I'm happy to help everyone uncover it.
On the crest of the waves help to remain developed in practice principles. The seller’s work begins long before the opening of the store and requires a lot of effort, reveals the secrets of Elena Kuleshova :
- In the morning we carry out sanitary treatment, receive goods, hang out according to colors and style: office, everyday, elegant clothes. Everything needs to be properly arranged so that people can quickly navigate. A good specialist knows everything about the discount program and gift certificates, knows how to conduct cash and non-cash payments, knows information about the timing of return and exchange of things. Customers are left to choose the outfit to taste and get positive emotions. Approaches to the presentation of goods are constantly being improved.

Clean courtyards and green forests are our common pride, but not always a common concern. Natural landfills of construction debris, old furniture and bags of household waste can disfigure picturesque edges and forest belts. How do ecologists and foresters track violators and how much does an old sidewalk thrown under the bush cost? The correspondent of SB Belarus Today went on a raid in search of unauthorized dumps and those who leave them.

The first point of the route is the vicinity of the village of Teleshi, Gomel district. We turn from an asphalt road to a primer running along the edge of the forest. Not drove three hundred meters, as before my eyes unfolded the picture: the roadside is literally strewn with rubbish. Plastic bottles, bags, food garbage – you can see that someone has chopped the contents of a bucket, and not one, directly into the forest. Next to the heaps of waste, a fresh excavation yawns.
Head of the Department of Control over the Protection and Use of Lands, Subsoil, Biodiversity, Specially Protected Natural Territories of the Gomel Regional Committee for Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Mikhail Shalupayev records several violations at once:
- First, unauthorized placement of waste, and secondly, unauthorized use of subsoil, simply speaking, theft of sand. By law, land users can take sand only on their own site exclusively for their own needs, and the depth should not exceed five meters.
Since the beginning of the year, more than 600 unauthorized landfills have been identified in the Gomel region, about 85 percent have already been eliminated, Mikhail Shalupayev quotes:
- For illegal disposal of waste under part 3 of article 16.44 of the Code of the Republic of Belarus on administrative offenses attracted 31 people, the total amount of fines — about 123 thousand rubles. At the same time, more than 90 violators escaped with a warning. They voluntarily eliminated landfills and compensated for the damage. In total, 99 facts of causing harm to the environment were recorded, about 200 thousand rubles were presented to violators for compensation.
What traces allow specialists to look for violators, how much will have to pay those who take out garbage into the forest, and how in the Gomel region are struggling with unauthorized landfills, read the material Svetlana Vashchenko.

Summer blackout of hot water, which for years remained an inevitable sign of the season for Minsk residents, has seriously decreased in recent years. For comparison: until 2010, the regulatory period of shutdown was 21 days, the current state standard was 13 days, and in 2026 the actual average time of shutdown of hot water supply was only 9.56 days. This was achieved by switching to pipes with an extended service life and a diagnostic system that allows you to find damage to heating lines before they lead to an accident. Details in conversation with correspondent "R" was told by Deputy Chief Engineer of the branch "Minsk Heat Networks" RUE "Minskenergo" Andrey Matskevich.

- This is, let’s say, the last word of heat supply, explained Andrey Matskevich. – Due to the preliminary insulation, the installation speed increases, the quality of execution increases, and the service life of the pipe is much longer than that of steel pipelines that were used earlier.
In parallel, flexible pre-insulated polymer pipes with a working pipe diameter of up to 160 mm are introduced in the networks. They can be used when laying small inter-quarter heating networks. To clarify: "up to 160 millimeters" refers to the internal pressure (working) pipe, and not to the external protective casing - the outer diameter of the shell of the GPI pipe with insulation can reach 225 millimeters. The polymer pipe is not subject to corrosion, and its estimated service life, subject to operating conditions, is 50 years. The introduction of such networks, among other things, allows to reduce the time of turning off hot water during repairs and significantly reduce accidents in the future.
