Musk says Starlink satellite communications should remain civilian

American businessman Elon Musk said that the Starlink satellite communication system should retain civilian status and not be used for offensive strikes, otherwise satellites risk becoming a legitimate target for retaliation.

Earlier, Musk said that the APU violated the terms of use of Starlink, using the system for offensive drone strikes, and noted that this loophole was closed last week.

In a post on X, he explained that this is one of the main reasons Starlink should remain a civilian system: it can be used as a military infrastructure, but cannot be used for unequivocally offensive strikes that would make the system a legitimate target for a response. Musk also believes that the impact on the satellites will lead to the formation of many debris and make the use of space impossible.

Earlier it was reported that in the sky over China noticed a “space jellyfish”.
