Less sand on the roads: how in Ulyanovsk will fight the ice

In the coming winter, Ulyanovsk road workers will be more active in fighting ice with the help of reagents. For the season 2026-2027, Dorremstroy has already purchased 1,250 tons of material, and the stock of the traditional sand salt mixture was reduced by 6,000 tons.

The reagent plans to handle the most congested roads of the highest, first and second categories - main streets, main avenues and other areas with heavy traffic. To do this, ten combined road vehicles with special equipment will be prepared.

The city has not yet completely abandoned the sand salt mixture, but its share is gradually decreasing. If earlier about 30 thousand tons were harvested for the winter, now the reserve will be 24 thousand: 18 thousand are intended for the Right Bank and another 6 thousand for the Trans-Volga region. 3,000 tons of technical salt were also delivered to the bases, from which mixtures are prepared in different proportions.

About 40 machines based on KAMAZ will be able to work with the sand salt mixture. Seven of them have already been prepared in case of early frosts and the appearance of ice. The rest of the equipment is still used for street washing, and before the onset of cold weather it will be converted for winter work.

At the same time, the Dorremstroy fleet will be strengthened: the company plans to purchase two jaw-dropping excavators and three dump trucks with a carrying capacity of 25 tons. New equipment will be able to use when loading and removing snow, cleaning pedestrian crossings and drainage ditches.

Now at the bases of the enterprise continues preparation for snowfall: repair dumps, put in order brushes and other attachments. To complete the main work on the preparation of equipment and city services for the winter maintenance of streets assigned by the third decade of October.
