Kislovodsk celebrates 90th anniversary of regular movement of electric trains from Mineralnye Vody

Kislovodsk celebrates the 90th anniversary of the regular movement of electric trains from Mineralnye Vody. This was reported by the head of the city Yevgeny Moiseev.
On November 7, 1936, a regular movement on the electrified branch Mineralnye Vody – Kislovodsk was opened. The first test electric train left on November 2 at 15:13.
The line was supplied with electricity by the Baksan HPP, the first large hydroelectric power plant in the North Caucasus.
“This event was important not only for Stavropol, but for the entire North Caucasus,” the mayor said.
Electrification gave the resort advantages: travel to neighboring cities became faster and more convenient, the number of transportations increased, passenger service improved.
Today, trains annually transport millions of residents and guests of Kislovodsk.
