The Mayor of Lipetsk congratulated NLMK metallurgists on the anniversary of the first cast iron and presented city awards
November 7 – a special date for Lipetsk

November 7 is a special date for Lipetsk. On this day in 1934, the first cast iron was smelted at the Novolipetsk Metallurgical Plant, and with this event a great industrial history began, which largely determined the development of the city. This was reported by the mayor of Lipetsk Mikhail Shcherbakov.
Today NLMK is one of the largest enterprises in the country and the most important part of the economy of Lipetsk and the region. Behind its history, production achievements and development are thousands of people: specialists, engineers, workers, veterans of the plant. Their professionalism and dedication, according to the mayor, deserve deep respect.
On the eve of the memorable date, the mayor congratulated the employees of the plant and presented city awards to those who contribute to the development of the enterprise and Lipetsk by their daily work. For the city, this is not just a formality: the metallurgical plant has been a city-forming enterprise for decades, and its staff is part of the history and everyday life of Lipetsk. The plant gave the city jobs, determined the appearance of entire districts and brought up more than one generation of metallurgists, for whom the profession has become a family affair.
Mikhail Shcherbakov wished NLMK staff stable work and new achievements, and all employees and veterans – health, well-being and confidence in the future. On such dates, it is especially important to remember that there are specific people behind the industrial records - those who today continue the work of the first metallurgists.
