One million guests visited the Republic of Mari El since the beginning of 2026
About 1 million tourists visited Mari El in the first nine months of 2026. This was reported following a meeting of the Government Commission for Tourism Development under the leadership of Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko.
The development of the region’s tourism infrastructure is based on a master plan that includes 12 flagship projects, 32 short-term initiatives and 43 long-term projects. This is reported by the Government of Mari El.
Currently, 85 objects are listed in the register of collective accommodation facilities of the republic. Among them are 50 hotels, 26 recreation centers, six sanatoriums and three campsites.
Additional places to accommodate tourists are created within the framework of the national project “Tourism and Hospitality”. Six modular facilities have already been built in the republic, four more are planned to be commissioned by 2027. The total cost of the projects exceeds 54 million rubles.
River tourism is also being developed in the region. In Kozmodemyansk, a pier has already been commissioned, another one is being built in the village of Yurino.
More than 112 million rubles from the federal and republican budgets were allocated for the development of the tourism industry in 2026. More than 16 million rubles are extrabudgetary funds.
