The governor of the Tula region, Dmitry Milyaev, told when a branch of the A. A. Bakhrushin State Central Theatre Museum will open in ancient mansions No. 4 and 6 on Metallist Street. It is planned to launch in 2028, the head of the region said in his channel in the MAX messenger.

Dmitry Milyaev reminded that the buildings of the late XVIII - early XIX century belong to the objects of cultural heritage of federal significance. Their restoration is carried out under an agreement between the government of the Tula region and the Ministry of Culture of Russia.

The mansions have already completed brickwork, strengthened the foundations and walls, arranged the roof. Now specialists are improving the territory, mounting stucco decor and engineering systems, as well as creating conditions for visitors with limited mobility. Complete repair and restoration work is planned before the end of 2026. After that, it will take about a year to create the exhibition.

The museum has nine rooms of the interactive exposition “World of Theatre Professions”. Visitors will be able to learn how theatrical life is arranged behind the scenes and what role stage designers, lighters, make-up artists and costumers play in creating the performance.

The space will also include a children's center, an open stage for creative experiments, a library, a bookstore and a cafe. The new branch will be part of the developing museum quarter and complement the cultural life of Tula.

Earlier, MK in Tula reported that the Governor of the Kursk region Alexander Khinstein called Tula one of the examples of careful attitude to historical heritage. As a reference point for the restoration, he singled out the museum quarter in Tula and the renewal of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin after the 800th anniversary of the city.
