On the eve of “Black Friday” scammers launched new schemes of deception. Attackers offer citizens to buy QR codes with discounts, which are actually obtained illegally. This is reported by the Federal Press.
One of the tricks involves loyalty systems. For a small amount, scammers promise to sell a QR code, which will allegedly give a large discount due to bonus points. In fact, criminals steal other people’s savings and resell them. Senators warn that even if the cipher works at the box office, it does not guarantee that the points are obtained honestly.
Buying such discounts from strangers, a person takes great risks. If the fact of illegal receipt of bonuses is revealed, the actions of both the seller and the buyer can be classified as criminal offences of theft or fraud. Subsequently, the lover of freebies will have to explain his position to law enforcement and participate in the proceedings.
The Interior Ministry also recalled another common scheme. Scammers call citizens and talk about some holiday payments to the card. To allegedly receive this money, the victim is asked to dictate the account details and the code from the SMS. In fact, such actions are only necessary to steal funds from the account.
Previously, fraudsters began to impersonate military enlistment officers. They intimidate citizens with subpoenas, send false documents and lure them from bank card data under the pretext of paperwork.
