Remote fraudsters stole from the Muscovite record for the capital amount – 450 million rubles, posing as employees of the FSB and the Bank of Russia

Remote fraudsters stole from the Muscovite record for the capital amount – 450 million rubles, posing as employees of the FSB and the Bank of Russia. This was reported in the press service of the capital GU MIA of Russia, responding to the request of the Agency.
According to police, the victim first received a message from a user with a profile name and a photo of her colleague: he asked if a curator from the FSB of Russia contacted her and asked to wait for a message from him. Then the woman was contacted by various persons posing as employees of the FSB and the Bank of Russia. They were informed about the alleged leakage of personal data from the organization where the victim works, and about criminal liability for disclosing the content of the dialogue.
The scammers convinced the woman that in order to protect her bank accounts, they need to be reissued, and the money should be withdrawn into cash and transferred to a courier who will deposit them into a “new account”. So the Muscovite lost 450 million rubles, writes TASS.
The police noted that the victim of the crime corresponds to the average portrait of victims of telephone scammers: “woman, age 45 years and above, single, living in the city, employment is not necessary.”.
