In the south of Volgograd, an important overpass was opened ahead of time

The event was attended by the head of the city Vladimir Marchenko, builders, veterans and youth representatives. Russia's honorary builder Lev Alferov flipped a symbolic road sign, marking the opening of traffic across the bridge.

Sarept overpass is one of the key road objects of the Krasnoarmeysky district. Due to heavy traffic, the artificial structure needed updating, and its repair was included in a comprehensive ten-year program for the future development of Volgograd. In 2023-2024, the national project “Safe quality roads” overhauled the first part of the overpass. In April 2026, in accordance with the national project “Infrastructure for Life”, the second stage began.

Specialists of the contractor completely dismantled asphalt concrete coating and outdated elements, including deformation seams, drainage systems and all types of fences. Workers overhauled the span structure, restored the protective layer of concrete elements and waterproofing, laid two layers of asphalt, updated the sidewalk, barrier and other fences, as well as lanterns. During the repair work, traffic was suspended on one part of the bridge - in the direction of the Kirov district.

During October, the builders will complete the work in the platform part of the facility. The head of the region set before the leadership of Volgograd further tasks for the modernization of road transport facilities. One of the most complex and important engineering structures, the Governor called the Astrakhan bridge, which requires repeated detailed examination and solution of issues with traffic flows.

Another difficult issue is the road construction project, the extension of Kosmonautov Street and the connection to Rasul Gamzatov Street. By implementing it, we will solve a number of problematic issues of decoupling Dzerzhinsky and Central districts, Andrey Bocharov said.

The head of the region also instructed to assess the priority of all road facilities of the 10-year development program of Volgograd, determine the order and provide the necessary financing.
