O. Gaidukevich: If state channels on YouTube were unpopular and uninteresting, they would not be banned

Opinion about Belarus’ cooperation with African countries, pressure on Russia due to the electoral campaign and the effect of blocking Belarusian state channels on YouTube was shared by the deputy of the House of Representatives, Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party of Belarus Oleg Gaidukevich on the air of the Evening Political Channel program. O. Gaidukevich spoke about Belarus’ cooperation with African countries.

- We work in all directions. Naturally, a longtime associate of our President Viktor Sheiman is involved in these processes. Work in Africa is well under way. The President has been to this continent more than once, knows how things are there, so the work is carried out hourly.

He also commented on the rupture of the agreement on nuclear danger notification by Ukraine.

- It's not just being denounced. Given our attempts to carry out terrorist attacks and extremism, this may be interrelated. According to the agreement, if something happens, we act together, and today, in fact, the Ukrainian side says that it does not need Belarus. Where is the guarantee that the Ukrainian regime, feeling its own collapse, will not deliberately damage nuclear reactors by blaming Russia? Belarus could suffer if the situation develops uncontrollably.

Speaking about Russia, the politician noted that after the elections, our ally is under the same pressure as Belarus during the electoral period.

- Belarus was pressed and Russia was pressed, at this moment turnout immediately increases. In Russia, there have been attempts at terrorist attacks, extremism, even some members of precinct commissions have been injured, while turnout has increased, people are being consolidated. Patriotic forces have won in Russia. Yes, they have differences, but still, in general, everyone supports the course of power that exists. According to the results of the distribution of votes, the largest increase in support among those parties that support the course of the authorities.

O. Gaidukevich also appreciated the effect of blocking channels on YouTube, stressing that everything you forbid is becoming popular in this sphere.

- When STV, Mir and other channels were closed again, even more people started watching them. If it were unpopular and uninteresting, no one would ban anything.
