O. Gaidukevich: results of social research prove that Belarusians have learned to appreciate and understand the good

Belarusians have learned to appreciate what they have, despite the monstrous cataclysms in the world. This opinion was expressed to the correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti news agency following the results of the first part of the comprehensive republican sociological study, Deputy of the House of Representatives, Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party of Belarus Oleg Gaidukevich.

- The data presented today fully confirms my impressions of meeting people across the country. People are well aware of what is happening around us. And this, for a moment, is a monstrous cataclysm. Entire states are being destroyed, war is raging in the Middle East and Ukraine, children are being killed, and international law is being destroyed. In addition, some countries are trying to destroy their economies. Why go far? Belarus has been slapped with sanctions, working to destroy it. What am I saying? Belarusians are neither blind nor deaf. They have learned to appreciate what they have. And the results of fresh social research from BISS and the academic Institute of Sociology confirm this.

According to O. Gaidukevich, all this clearly indicates that Belarusians are not just standing for the cause of peace, keeping it, but are really developing.

In addition, the expert drew attention to the fact that our citizens recognize the social achievements achieved: free healthcare, education, the opportunity to find decent work, etc.

- People have realized one simple truth. If you want to work and live a decent life, it is real. It's up to you.

At the same time, Belarusian citizens see the existing problems and openly talk about them.

- Today, unlike in previous years, no one is agitating for the fact that it is necessary to completely destroy something there, and on its basis to make new. What does that say? The vast majority of Belarusians realized that destroying is not building. And when people talk about some problems, they say that they should be solved consistently, moving in an innovative way, if necessary, eliminating certain shortcomings. Just like this

Oleg Gaidukevich admitted with satisfaction that social research proved an important truth: the main value that unites all Belarusians is peace.

- For many of our citizens, the concept of democracy or freedom is associated with the opportunity to live peacefully and without fear of letting their children go, for example, from home to the street. I would also like to highlight people’s confidence in tomorrow. This is about the highest trust of the people, based on the fact that the government, the President will be able to keep the situation, and the country will develop further.

In conclusion, the chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party of Belarus gave practical advice to sociologists:

- The more they raise the real issues that bother people, the more the population will trust these studies. The simplest example. On September 10, the President announced that the country had been turned into a platform for casinos and gambling. No one saw that? Nothing like that, seen and known. Why hasn't anyone mentioned this before, put questions in the same surveys? Unfortunately, everyone was silent. And the Pushkin phrase from Boris Godunov – “the people are silent” – is very bad. People need to ask a variety of questions and receive live feedback from them regularly.
