The school day for ninth-graders of Lyceum No. 2 of Penza was held not at the desks, but at the forefront of the medical service. The children went on an excursion to the regional ambulance station to see with their own eyes how the work of emergency teams is arranged.
The first point was the control room - a real command center. Students were taught how to take on challenges. They learned that the dispatcher had only a few seconds to assess the situation and direct the nearest available car to the patient.
Then the lyceum students visited the Center for Disaster Medicine. There they were shown modern simulators-mannequins and even allowed to try themselves as rescuers. No less interest was caused by the reanimobile. Doctors have demonstrated equipment that allows complex manipulations right on the way while the patient is taken to the hospital.
The head doctor of the station Lev Umnov stressed that young people today are very interested in medicine, but often this is limited to visiting clinics. Ambulance is a completely different world, where people work in a special warehouse. In his opinion, the main task of such excursions is to show schoolchildren real work without embellishment. These are the people who will defend human lives in a few years.
