The opening of a new ecotrope in the village of Chenki near Gomel was dedicated to the republican action “Day without a car”. This is an occasion to talk once again about ecology and conservation of natural resources. Ecotrope is located on the territory of the educational and scientific base "Chenki" Gomel State University named after Francisk Skaryna, writes sb.by.

The length of the ecotrope is about half a kilometer. Along the route, there are 14 information stations, each of which provides detailed information about the local flora and fauna. Associate Professor of the Department of Biology of the Faculty of Biology of the Skaryna State University Nikolai Galinovsky said:
- The concept itself has been developed for about two years. The main idea of the ecotrope is, of course, educational. And educational not only for students, but also for residents of the surrounding villages who can come and get acquainted with the available information.

The ecotrope is made as informative as possible. At each station there is a stand with text and photo materials. Plus, a mobile application has been created, which leads to the QR codes located here. It has all the necessary information, ecotrope scheme and soundtrack along the route. The application was developed by university students.
At the end of the route there is a “Touch Trail”, the cells of which contain various textures and fillers. According to experts, walking on bumps, twigs and pebbles is useful for the prevention of flat feet, the development of coordination, stress relief and improving overall well-being.

- I would like people to appreciate what we have, maintain the environment, do not throw away garbage, use less plastic, more paper materials, so that they decompose faster and do not pollute our beautiful nature.
Chairman of the Regional Committee of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Pavel Novikov also assessed the route:
Environmental education is an important element. First of all, it is aimed at young people, because it depends on them how environmental work will be built so that we and the next generations after us breathe clean air in our unique Belarus.
