Near Vitebsk will launch the first in the region center of separate waste collection

Garbage landfill near Vitebsk will soon work in a new, improved format. According to plans, in mid-October there will be a unique object for the region – a sorting center. This was reported by the director of the state enterprise “Specsavtobaza of Vitebsk” Sergey Dashkov, writes sb.by.

The new center, the construction of which began a month ago, is a site of 100 square meters, located right at the entrance to the MSW landfill. Its main task is to organize the flow of garbage, which is brought by residents of the city on personal transport. The center is divided into specialized zones. So, under the canopy in dryness and safety will store waste paper, old household appliances, scrap metal. There are separate containers for glass, car tires, barrels for used engine oil.

- Thanks to this center, the waste is guaranteed to be sent for disposal without secondary material resources. This is the first such experience in the field, which will allow to put the collection of recyclables on a truly civilized rails, emphasizes Sergey Dashkov.

The experiment at the site is only part of a larger strategy. In the future, similar mini-centers may appear on the basis of five existing procurement stalls of Spetsavtobazy in Vitebsk. In parallel, the urban infrastructure for collecting MSW is being updated. During September-October in the regional center will be 420 new European containers with special markings more. The company's equipment park will also be replenished. The special depot plans to purchase a second machine with a crane-manipulator installation - it is specially designed to service modern underground containers of the "deep" type.

But technical re-equipment alone is not enough without the consciousness of the citizens themselves, notes Sergey Dashkov:

- In the near future, Spetsavtobaza, together with the controlling services, will begin a series of raids. The focus is on sanctioned garbage collection sites, and later apartment buildings with garbage conduits.

Violators, for example, leaving bulky garbage outside the containers or not carrying packages to the tanks, will work in stages. They will first have an explanatory conversation.
