The last day of calm before the geomagnetic storm: scientists warned meteorologists about the imminent impact
On Thursday, October 29, the indicators of the Solar Astronomy Laboratory IKI RAS record a stable geomagnetic calm

The probability of a full-fledged magnetic storm is estimated by experts at only 3%, while the chances of a calm magnetosphere are 87%. The forecast index of geomagnetic activity (Kp-index) throughout the day will be kept at the level of 1-2 points, which corresponds to the norm and is classified as a “calm geofield”.
The only factor of influence is the passage of the planet through the edge of the solar wind stream from the coronal hole, which can briefly increase its speed to 600 km / s. However, for the transition of the magnetosphere to the red zone, this energy is not enough.
Despite the favorable forecast of space weather, weather-sensitive people should not relax due to earthly factors. Thursday will bring to the Siberian capital sharp fluctuations in atmospheric pressure, high humidity and gusty wind up to 14 m / s, turning into evening rain. The combination of these meteorological changes can trigger mild malaise, headache, or general fatigue. Doctors traditionally recommend on such days to observe a drinking regime, avoid excessive physical exertion and rest more.
In addition, according to Yandex Weather, on Friday, October 30, a sharp increase in activity is expected to the level of a moderate magnetic storm (5 points).
