The Murmansk regional court upheld the sentence of a resident of Kandalaksha for murder, despite his old age. This was reported by the joint press service of the Murmansk region.
The Kandalaksha district court gave the man eight years in a strict regime colony and recovered 900 thousand rubles in compensation for moral damage. The lawyer asked to mitigate the punishment: take into account age, health, confession of guilt and remorse. He also asked not to consider intoxication an aggravating circumstance and to reduce compensation.
The regional court left the sentence unchanged. He noted that old age in itself cannot be considered a mandatory mitigating circumstance, and the health of the convict was taken into account. The court did not find grounds for a milder punishment. The sentence went into effect.
Earlier, “MK in Murmansk” said that the resident of Apatitov changed the general regime of the colony to strict for migrants.
