Rector of the Belarusian State University Andrey Korol summed up the work of the leading university of the country over the past five-year period. The head of the alma mater named three main achievements of the university during this period: the award of the BSU Government Prize for achievements in the field of quality, the successful launch of its own nanosatellites and a large-scale breakthrough in cooperation with the People's Republic of China. These projects, according to the rector, became a reflection of the success of BSU in science, international activities and indisputable recognition of the university’s merits at the state level.

The first and most important event of recent years, Andrey Korol called the high assessment of the work of the university by the state - receiving the award of the Government of the Republic of Belarus for achievements in the field of quality. The complexity of this task was the unique and large-scale structure of BSU, which is much more difficult to manage than a conventional educational institution. Today BSU consists of 16 faculties, 10 educational institutions, 6 research institutes, 6 enterprises, 1 science and technology park, 6 industry laboratories, three training and experimental stations, 7 museums, the interlocutor emphasizes:
- And to build a single controlled organism out of them is a separate task. This is necessary in order to ensure that internal data from, say, research institutes of physical and chemical problems, from financial expenses to ongoing projects, are effectively integrated into the work of related structures.
The second historical achievement of the five-year plan was the space program of the university. The launch of its own nanosatellites brought the Belarusian State University into the narrow circle of the world scientific elite, Andrei Korol emphasizes:
— BSU is ahead of many world universities that do not have this. Of the 30,000 universities in the world, only about a hundred have such facilities.
The third pillar of success was the unprecedented cooperation with the People's Republic of China. The vector to the East has brought concrete, measurable results in both educational and scientific spheres, the rector notes:
- To date, more than 4 thousand Chinese students study at BSU. Of course, five years ago there were no such figures - the figure has grown about twice. This result is achieved thanks to all the programs developed by the university. We work with top universities. It is enough to name our joint institutes with Dalian Polytechnic University. Our Chinese colleagues are constantly making suggestions that we will naturally align with our own goals, interests and capabilities.
Of particular pride is the strategic partnership with Peking University, which is rightfully considered a world-class university, Andrei Korol emphasizes:
- The creation of a joint Center for Basic Research is a serious achievement that has already received concrete fulfillment. Today we have the first joint projects of BSU and Peking University. BSU scientists have developed a methodology for adapting agriculture to climate change
