In the village of Maina Sayanogorsk, a focus of Newcastle disease, also known as pseudo-plague of birds, was revealed. The virus can quickly spread among birds and lead to mass death of poultry.
The outbreak was reported by the head of Sayanogorsk Evgeny Molodnyakov. According to him, specialists of the veterinary station and employees of the city administration are already working on the spot. They go around the farmstead to check the condition of the birds and assess the situation.
The disease can manifest itself in different ways. Among the alarming signs are lethargy, refusal of food and water, discharge from the beak and nose, difficulty breathing, diarrhea, decreased egg production, convulsions and sudden death of a bird.
Owners of chickens and ducks are advised to check vaccinations, keep birds indoors and prevent them from coming into contact with wild birds. If poultry is sick or dead, veterinary specialists should be informed.
The virus is particularly dangerous for birds. In humans, infection is rare and can usually be accompanied by cold-like symptoms or conjunctivitis. At the same time, for any suspicious symptoms after contact with a sick bird, you should consult a doctor.
Earlier, we reported that an emergency commission was convened in Khakassia after the deaths of birds on two farmsteads.
