From November 5 on the wall of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin will not be possible to pass around

From November 5, 2026, the circular route along the wall of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin is closed for the winter period. This was reported in the regional Ministry of Culture.
The outgoing season was a record: from April to October, the summer route was visited by more than 1 million people, which is 20% more than the same period last year. Most of the guests came from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kirov, Saransk and Yekaterinburg. Foreign tourists accounted for less than 1% of visitors, most often citizens of China, India and Belarus.
The 2,113-meter-long Kremlin wall is closed annually after the November holidays. The reason is the icing of the steps at altitude drops: limestone steps 40 cm high easily absorb moisture and in winter are covered with a thick ice crust, which makes moving along them dangerous.
In winter, guests will be able to walk along the wall from Dmitrievskaya to the Clock Tower and visit the museum expositions inside the towers. The work schedule will remain the same - daily from 10:00 to 20:00.
