Triumphal performance of the ensemble "Syamozerye" from Essoila on the "Soul of Russia - Kostroma"

People’s collective “Syamozerye” won a brilliant victory at the international competition. The ensemble was awarded the title of laureate of the I degree at the jubilee, XL International competition-festival of musical and artistic creativity "Soul of Russia - Kostroma". This achievement became known through the publication “Our Life – Meijän elaigu”.

The performance of Syamozerya made an indelible impression on the jury members, especially due to the deep sound of songs in the Karelian language. The artists demonstrated their mastery of folk vocals, presenting the compositions “Ongo Petroskra” and “Ruispeldo” to the public.

Founded in 1982, the ensemble is the pride of the Ethnocultural Center “Kielen Kiryu” under the leadership of Olga Vasilyeva. “Syamozerye” is rightfully considered a living embodiment and guardian of the original Karelian culture, enriching its repertoire with both folk and author’s works in Karelian and Russian languages.

The creative palette of the collective extends far beyond the limits of musical art. “Syamozerye” is famous for its energetic dances and the original “Syamozerskaya quadrille”. And “Rubchoil gatherings” in the historical village of Rubcheila offer viewers a complete immersion in the authentic life and centuries-old traditions of the Karelian people.
