Austrian entrepreneur Gerhard Porsche, grandson of the founder of the automotive dynasty Ferdinand Porsche, died on October 30 at the age of 88. His death was reported by Schoosleitner Bestattung.
"Gerhard Porsche passed away on October 30, 2026 at the age of 88 in the circle of his beloved family," the statement said.
His most famous projects were in Carinthia, Austria. In 2010, he opened a rare car museum in St. Salvator. The collection includes Porsche, Rolls-Royce and Bentley cars, racing cars, tractors, motorcycles and scooters.
The entrepreneur also invested in the development of the Metnitztal Valley. He restored the old Seppenbauer Hotel and turned it into a complex with a restaurant, sauna, fitness and conference centers. Later, the hotel was renamed Das Salvator - Iris Porsche Landhotel in honor of the wife of the businessman.
Porsche was the brother of Wolfgang Porsche, Chairman of the Supervisory Boards of Porsche AG and Porsche Automobil Holding SE. Unlike a well-known relative, he rarely appeared in public space and was mainly engaged in his own projects in Carinthia.
