In Minsk, police help former convicts find work

In Minsk, employees of penitentiary inspections, together with social services, help citizens released from prison to return to normal life and find work. To do this, law enforcement officers conduct preventive meetings with subordinates, help solve social issues and interact with employment centers and employers.

One such meeting took place in the Soviet district of the capital. It was organized by the inspector of the penitentiary inspection of the Soviet police Department of Minsk Ilya Trostyanyuk and representatives of the organizations of the district. Participants were told about employment opportunities, available vacancies and working conditions, and how to compile a resume and prepare for an interview.

- We always support persons registered with us in the penitentiary inspection, said Ilya Trostyanyuk. Our task is not only control, but also real help in returning a person to a full life. Employment is one of the key factors that allows you to find stability, feel needed and reduce the risk of reoffending.

Employees of the penitentiary inspectorate of the Frunze police department also work with similar problems. Deputy Head of the Inspectorate Konstantin Pinchuk notes that the presence of a criminal record often becomes an obstacle to employment, so inspection staff interact with employment centers and employers.

- We cooperate with employment centers, interact with employers and explain the legislation whenever possible. It is important to give a person the opportunity to earn and feel needed. Without this, the chances of a successful return to society fall sharply, said Konstantin Pinchuk.

The practical results of such work can be seen in the Leninsky district. Employees of the penitentiary inspection of the Lenin police department held a meeting with citizens registered. Specialists of employment and social protection centers joined the dialogue, who spoke about vacancies and vocational training opportunities.

For some participants, the meeting was an opportunity to resolve the issue of on-site work. Thus, a 30-year-old Minsk man convicted of theft of a vehicle at the meeting considered several proposals, chose a vacancy for a loader and agreed to go to work the next day. Another participant, who was left without the support of loved ones after eight years in prison, also found it difficult to find work. With the help of employees of the penitentiary inspectorate, he was able to find a job as a handyman at one of the capital enterprises.

According to Tatiana Ivanova, Deputy Head of the Penitentiary Inspectorate of the Leninsky Internal Affairs Department, in each case, specialists are trying to understand the situation.

- It is important to understand the problems of each person. Someone needs help in finding a job, someone in restoring relations with loved ones, and sometimes the most necessary thing is just to feel support and understand that you are not alone, said Tatiana Ivanova.

Inspection assistance is not limited to employment. Employees assist in the restoration of documents, establishing relationships with loved ones, solving other social problems.
