Belarus celebrates October Revolution Day
The holiday retains an important historical and symbolic significance: it was after the events of 1917 that the formation of the Belarusian statehood began, and later the BSSR was created - a direct predecessor of modern Belarus.

On November 7, the October Revolution Day is celebrated in the Republic of Belarus. This day is fixed as a state holiday and a day off in accordance with the decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus No. 157 of March 26, 1998 "On public holidays, holidays and memorable dates in the Republic of Belarus".
October revolution: date and historical significance
The October Revolution occurred on October 25 (November 7, according to the new style) of 1917 – this event became one of the most important milestones of the XX century and significantly changed the further course of world history. Revolutionary ideas have awakened millions of people to resist oppression and to fight social inequality. For many representatives of the older generation, the events of October 1917 remain a symbol of large-scale changes that affected Belarus. It was thanks to these changes that the Belarusian people were able to form the foundations of their own statehood, increase their economic and intellectual resources, and preserve and multiply their cultural heritage.
Formation of Belarusian statehood and the role of the BSSR
The revolution launched the process of self-determination of Belarus and the formation of a national state within the framework of the Soviet model. The choice of this form of state structure was due to the public mood in the country, the popularity of the Bolshevik program and the strengthening of Soviet Russia's position on the Western Front. Initially, the territory of the BSSR covered only six districts of the former Minsk province – it was a relatively small part of Central Belarus. With an area of 50 thousand square kilometers and a population of about 1.5 million people, the republic managed to become one of the founding states of the USSR, and in the future - to unite the eastern and western Belarusian lands. The current Belarus is the direct successor of the BSSR, the emergence of which became possible due to the events of 1917.
Modern Development of Belarus: Continuity and Sovereignty
109 years have passed since the October Revolution, but it was then that key steps were taken that laid the foundation of the modern Belarusian state. Today, the Republic of Belarus consistently pursues a course of sovereign development, not only preserving the achievements of the Soviet era, but also significantly developing them.
The country has developed a special state model, which is based on a socially oriented economy and a thoughtful social policy aimed at improving the well-being of citizens and strengthening society.
Political model and strengthening of statehood
The political system of Belarus is distinguished by its specificity: it includes an extensive network of representative institutions of power. An important stage in strengthening statehood was the consolidation of the constitutional and legal status of the All-Belarusian People’s Assembly – this step demonstrated the unity of the Belarusian people and its ability to independently formulate strategic goals and achieve their implementation.
Celebration traditions and socially significant projects
Preserving the October Revolution Day among the significant dates is a way to express respect for the historical period that gave a powerful impetus to the development of Belarusian statehood.
On November 7, commemorative events are held in many cities of the republic: residents lay flowers at the monument to Lenin, festive concerts, educational events and platforms for public discussions are organized. In addition, the completion of major projects and the commissioning of important facilities are traditionally timed to this date in Belarus, including residential buildings, preschool and educational institutions, medical centers, sports facilities, as well as elements of transport infrastructure, including bridges and roads.
