In Belarus, the minimum amount of alimony may be changed. Now its lower bar is tied to the budget of the subsistence minimum - it is 530 rubles 37 kopecks. This was told by the Deputy head of the Department of legal regulation and ensuring the activities of the main Department of enforcement of the Ministry of justice Elena Rasolko on the air of the TV channel STV, writes sb.by.

The legislation provides the minimum amount of alimony, which is tied to the budget of the subsistence minimum on average per capita. From August 1 to October 30, it is set at 530 rubles 37 kopecks. Each month the debtor is obliged to pay alimony, their amount depends on his income. For one child it is 25%, for two or more children – 33% and 50% – for three or more children. Currently, state bodies are working on the issue of adjusting the minimum amount of alimony. And, perhaps, in the near future there will be some changes in this direction, Elena Rasolko said.
She painted a social portrait of the alimony payer. “Generally, 95% are men. The average age is 30 to 50 years. Of the 100,000 debtors who are on the job, more than 75,000 are officially employed and pay alimony from their wages. The most effective measure is foreclosure on wages, but if the debtor does not work, arrears on alimony have formed, then in such a situation the bailiff applies a set of measures. First of all, this is foreclosure on funds, accounts, deposits, arrest and sale of liquid property at the place of residence, as well as foreclosure on a vehicle, real estate. Along with this, there are such effective measures as restriction of the debtor in the right to provide him with communication and Internet services, temporary restriction in the right to drive a power-driven vehicle, small-sized courts, restriction of the right to hunt. We also apply a measure of restriction in the right to visit gambling establishments, including virtual ones. In addition, the bailiff has the right to petition the court to restrict the debtor in the right to travel outside the country, the representative of the Ministry of Justice informed.
According to her, bailiffs carry out a lot of preventive work with defaulters of alimony. “If all the mechanisms have already been exhausted, we initiate before the criminal prosecution authorities the issue of bringing the debtor to criminal liability under article 184 of the Criminal Code. This year, more than 2.5 thousand persons were checked, and more than half of them were brought to criminal responsibility, Elena Rasolko added.
