The Regional Department of the Federal Tax Service of Russia for the Republic of Karelia during a large-scale operation to combat tax offenses revealed the activities of local organizations that used the services of sites for generating fictitious VAT. These structures provided the tax authorities with falsified invoices and reports.
The essence of the “paper” VAT is to artificially overstate costs through a chain of imaginary transactions with one-day firms. This allows companies to illegally increase the amount of tax deductions and, as a result, minimize payments to the budget.
According to the deputy head of the Karelian Federal Tax Service, Larisa Lebedeva, more than 20 representatives of the real sector of the economy, including construction, transport, energy and trade enterprises, came to the attention of the department. The total amount of illegally formed deductions exceeded 61 million rubles. At the moment, the tax service is actively working to recover additional accrued amounts and fix violations committed during interaction with “technical” counterparties.
