In the Crimea proposed to reconstruct Simferopol and Kamysh-Burunskaya CHPP
Alexey Lukinykh, General Director of KRYMTEC JSC, at a meeting on the draft Scheme and Program for the Development of Electric Power Systems for 2027-2032 proposed to reconstruct the Simferopol and Kamysh-Burun CHPPs

At a meeting on the draft Scheme and Program for the Development of Electric Power Systems for 2027-2032, Alexey Lukinykh proposed to reconstruct the Simferopol and Kamysh-Burun CHP plants. According to him, this will increase the reliability of energy supply to consumers and optimize the operation of generating capacities, KIA reports.
“Special attention in the proposals was paid to the reconstruction of Simferopol and Kamysh-Burunskaya CHPP. This will increase the reliability of energy supply to consumers and optimize the operation of generating capacities, the press service of the enterprise quotes him.
The meeting also discussed the development of heat supply in the cities of KRYMTEC presence. The discussion was attended by representatives of federal and regional authorities, major energy companies, including KRYMTEC, RusHydro, Rosseti, as well as industry associations.
Now the consideration of comments and proposals from the executive authorities of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation and participants of the electric power market continues. All initiatives announced during the meeting will be analyzed, and for each proposal, the developer will present his position.
After that, the revised draft Schemes and programs for the development of electric power systems will be sent to the Ministry of Energy of Russia for consideration.
Recall that Simferopol and Kamysh-Burunskaya CHPP are not the first year in the spotlight because of work and modernization. In 2021, information about a possible shutdown of the stations spread in social networks, but KRYMTEC denied it, stressing that CHPPs are “strategic and socially important facilities” and cannot be stopped without a good reason, including due to the need to supply heat.
In January 2022, electricity generation at the Simferopol CHPP was suspended completely, and at Kamysh-Burunskaya - half because of unprofitability. At the same time, a full stop would leave Kerch residents without heating in winter, so one turbine of the Kamysh-Burunskaya CHPP continued to work, and the equipment was in cold reserve.
In parallel, in the Crimea was carried out modernization of heat supply. In 2023, the region was allocated 1.6 billion rubles for infrastructure projects, including the renewal of heat supply systems. In 2024, at the expense of the National Welfare Fund, seven heat supply facilities were modernized, including in the Simferopol district and Kerch.
In March 2026, the Russian government included new and expanding thermal power plants in the Crimea in the updated scheme of territorial planning of energy – this should create a reserve of capacity and increase the reliability of energy supply in the region. In addition, as part of the modernization of the Crimean energy system, it was planned to replace more than 250 transformer substations in 2026.
