In the Orel region convicted lawyer for attempted fraud

In the Orel region, the court sentenced a lawyer who tried to illegally receive payments from the federal budget. He was found guilty under Part 3 of Art. 30, Part 1 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

According to the press service of the regional IC, the lawyer defended the client under the agreement and received from his relatives 60 thousand rubles. At the same time, he concealed the fact of receiving money from the investigation. At the same time, the lawyer filed an application with the investigator demanding to pay for his work from the state budget, as if he had been appointed defense counsel by the state. The amount of payments was to be more than 37 thousand rubles. However, the criminal plan failed: the fraud was discovered in time by the FSB officers.

The court sentenced the defendant to a fine of 80 thousand rubles. He was also banned from practicing law for a year and a half. The sentence has not yet entered into force.
