From October 2 to 4, the first festival of monastery cuisine “Arkhondarik” was held in Pechora, which attracted more than 20 thousand visitors. For three days, the guests were offered a rich program: gastronomic tastings, educational lectures, creative master classes and musical performances, the Ministry of Culture of the Pskov region reported.
The center of the festival was the central square of the city, where improvised monastic farmsteads were deployed. They are located near the Holy Dormition Pskov-Pechersk Monastery. Guests could taste authentic dishes prepared according to the traditions of monasteries from Karelia and Tatarstan, Khabarovsk and Stavropol regions, Leningrad and Pskov regions, as well as the Republic of Belarus. Each courtyard told about the history and life of its monastery, traditions and main shrines - through decoration, exhibits and stories of representatives of monasteries.
On the first day of the festival, the venue was visited by high-ranking guests: the Governor of the Pskov region Mikhail Vedernikov, the Chairman of the Board of JSC Rosselkhozbank Boris Listov, Metropolitan Matthew of Pskov and Porkhov, Vice-Governor Olga Timofeeva, Minister of Culture of the region Ilianna Petrova, as well as representatives of the municipality and clergy. During the inspection of the sites, the head of the region talked with Pskov farmers and entrepreneurs, discussed the success in harvesting, recalled the existing tools to support farmers and confirmed the readiness of the regional government to help farms at different levels.
The cultural part of the festival was the screening of films of the Orthodox film festival “Meeting”, dedicated to the search for truth, goodness and eternal values. On the main stage of the Victory Square, Hieromonk Photius, a resident of St. Pafnutiev of the Borovsk Monastery and the winner of the TV project “Voice-4”, spoke. In his performance sounded the compositions “City, which is not”, “Noise birch”, “Homeland”, “Enchanted distance” and others.
The festival is organized with the support of the Pskov diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church, the Government of the Pskov region and the Administration of the city of Pechora. It became possible thanks to the victory of the project “Pechory – the cradle of Orthodoxy” in the All-Russian competition “Best municipal practice”, as well as the assistance of Rosselkhozbank.
