In the Medvezhyegorsky district of Karelia, a 30-year-old local resident will appear in court for attempting to bribe a traffic police officer. A criminal case against a man was initiated by the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia in the Republic of Karelia under Part 1 of Article 30 and Part 3 of Article 291 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (attempt to give a bribe in a significant amount).
According to the investigation, the incident occurred at the end of September 2026 in the village of Pindus. Late at night, a traffic police inspector stopped a car whose driver was showing clear signs of alcohol intoxication. During the inspection of documents it turned out that the man had already been deprived of the right to drive vehicles.
Trying to avoid administrative punishment under part 3 of article 12.8 of the administrative code of the Russian Federation, the motorist offered the police 30 thousand rubles in cash. Having received a refusal, the offender did not abandon his intentions and increased the amount of the bribe to 50 thousand rubles. The inspector rejected the offer, reported the incident to the management and appealed to the investigative committee.
Currently, law enforcement officers are carrying out a set of measures to consolidate the evidence base and establish all the details of the incident.
