The Government of the region held a meeting of the regional commission on road safety

A meeting of the regional commission on road safety was held in the Government of the region. The meeting participants focused on discussing the current road situation and assessing the readiness of specialized services for the onset of the winter period.
One of the central topics was the state of accidents on regional roads, with special attention paid to measures to prevent child road traffic injuries. Chairman of the Commission and Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Smolensk region Alexey Vydrin noted that the protection of the life and health of children is an absolute priority for the region. In this regard, the Commission considered the possibility of creating specially equipped training grounds for adolescents using scooters, skateboards and other means of transportation. Such zones will allow young people to safely master the skills of transport management without creating obstacles for other road users.
Also at the meeting, issues of preparation for the autumn-winter maintenance of the road network were discussed. Participants analyzed the state of the special equipment park and the volume of workpieces of the necessary anti-slip materials. Earlier, the governor of the region Vasily Anokhin reported that 659 units of equipment were prepared for maintenance of roads of regional importance, which will begin work at the first frosts and snowfalls. More than 90 thousand tons of sand salt mixture have already been prepared for the processing of the tracks.
In Smolensk for the winter season, Smolenskavtodor has prepared 94 units of snow removal equipment. To combat ice and clean the roadway in the regional center harvested 13 thousand tons of sand salt mixture and more than 11 thousand tons of technical salt. The process of snow removal will be complex: if snow is planned to be removed from city streets, then cleaning yards, sidewalks and hard-to-reach places will be carried out manually. All necessary contracts for the performance of these works have already been concluded.
