Today, on the Day of the defeat of the German fascist troops by Soviet troops in the battle for the Caucasus, a commemorative sign appeared in Pyatigorsk dedicated to the reconnaissance group of the NKVD, which in 1942 operated in the territory occupied by the enemy. This was reported by the head of the city Dmitry Voroshilov.
The initiative to install a memorial plaque was made by the Russian Military Historical Society and the FSB in the Stavropol Territory.
The city immortalized the memory of members of the intelligence group of the Pyatigorsk city department of the NKVD management in the Ordzhonikidze region:
The Chekists were left in August 1942 in the occupied territory for intelligence work. In the autumn of the same year, the group was captured and shot by the Gestapo.
“The installation of a commemorative sign is a tribute to the feat of fellow countrymen who gave their lives for the freedom of their native city. Their names are forever inscribed in the history of Pyatigorsk and serve as an example of courage and loyalty to the Fatherland for future generations, said Dmitry Voroshilov.
