In Sortavala increased control of electric scooters: the second raid revealed violations among minors
Sortavala, [date] – In order to prevent traffic violations related to the operation of electric scooters, traffic police officers and juvenile inspectors, together with representatives of the kickshare operator, conducted another joint raid in Sortavala. The main objective of the event is to remind road users, including young people, of the responsibility that falls on drivers of personal mobility vehicles (SIM).
During patrolling the streets, two cases of traffic violations by minors were recorded. So, two sixteen-year-old girls were stopped while riding one rolling scooter. The offenders not only ignored the ban on the carriage of passengers established by the Rules of the road, but also the terms of the lease agreement, according to which persons over 18 years old are allowed to drive electric scooters. In relation to the driver of the SIM, a sixteen-year-old girl, an administrative protocol was drawn up under part 2 of Article 12.29 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation.
Another teenager, under the age of 16, was stopped driving a rented electric scooter. Since persons under the age of 16 are not subject to administrative liability, liability for violation of the law will fall on its legal representatives.
Representatives of the kickshare company quickly took measures, blocking accounts from which scooters were rented by violators, to prevent repeated incidents.
This is the second such raid conducted in Sortavala. The previous event in August also revealed violations: then three minor SIM drivers were brought to administrative responsibility under part 2 of Article 12.29 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation, and five accounts of violators were blocked.
The State Traffic Inspectorate of Karelia once again reminds all citizens that the management of rolling electric scooters is allowed only to persons who have reached the age of 18, and requires strict compliance with the Traffic Rules.
