In Sortavala began work on the restoration of rare visors with lemech

The Foundation "Attention" launched a restoration project in Sortavala: the contractor began to save the unique carved canopies of the building located at the address: St. Soviet, 14. These decorative elements are notable for their finish – they are covered with lemech (wooden shingles). According to experts of the Fund, this is the only surviving in the city of the construction of this type.

At the first stage, specialists conducted 3D scanning and detailed graphic fixation of objects. The data obtained will serve as the basis for the upcoming repair. In the coming days, workers will start installing scaffolding.

At the moment, the project is partially funded: from the required 650 thousand rubles managed to collect a little more than 351 thousand. Fundraising continues, and everyone can contribute to the preservation of the architectural appearance of the city.

The building on the Soviet, 14 is an architectural monument of the turn of the XIX-XX centuries. Due to the dilapidated visors are worn by 80%, so their restoration is critical for the preservation of historical heritage.
