Work on the restoration of the military grave "Brother's Grave No. 113" was completed in Voronezh. The memorial complex, known as the Shilovsky bridgehead, was updated to take into account the requirements for the preservation of the historical appearance of the cultural heritage object. This was reported in the regional Ministry for the development of municipalities on September 17.
The repair was carried out within the framework of the state program aimed at supporting the development of municipalities and local self-government, with the participation of the relevant regional ministry.
Shilovsky bridgehead is associated with fierce battles for Voronezh during the Great Patriotic War. In the area of Shilovo, Trushkino and Shilov forest area, the Red Army suffered significant losses. 1,057 soldiers are buried on the burial grounds: 841 of them have been identified, and another 216 soldiers are unknown. There are also the remains of 116 civilians who died during the fighting and bombing.
During the work, the cladding of granite slabs of the main memorial composition was updated. It includes steles, walls with the names of the dead and two small tombstones. For repair used materials that meet the established construction requirements. All works were carried out in compliance with the regulations providing for the preservation of the original historical appearance of the monument.
The changes also affected the surrounding area. On the monument, located opposite the main composition and created by the sculptor F. K. Sushkov, the old coating was replaced: paving slabs were laid instead.
