In the Arctic for seven months, two northerners sought surcharge for the loss of breadwinner

The Prosecutor’s office of the Kola district demanded to pay more than 46 thousand rubles to the child on the regional social supplement to the pension on the occasion of the loss of breadwinner. This is reported by the press service of the Prosecutor’s office of the Murmansk region. This is the second time in seven months that children have to defend their rights to payments in court.

The Kola district prosecutor’s office appealed to the court in the interests of a minor who was not paid a regional social supplement to the survivor’s pension. From August to December 2025, he lost more than 46 thousand rubles. His social pension was below the subsistence minimum established in the Murmansk region.

The October District Court of Murmansk considered a similar dispute in early March. On the portal, regulations and legal acts indicate that the survivor's pension was paid for almost ten years, from 2012 to 2021, without regional additional payments. The application for recalculation and payment sent to the pension authority did not bring any results. At the meeting, the court charged the Social Fund Office for the Murmansk region with the obligation to calculate and pay the lost amount.
