Volgograd doctors warned about the features of a new strain of coronavirus
Among its distinguishing signs is a particularly severe sore throat and prolonged asthenia after an illness.
As told RIA “Novosti” doctor of medical Sciences, infectious disease doctor and virologist Elena Malinnikova, a variant of PJ. 2.1 may differ from other types of coronavirus intense pain in the throat and longer recovery after infection.
"Clinical researchers describe that the throat allegedly hurts more, longer asthenia after suffering this infection persists," the specialist explained.
Earlier, the Russian representative of the WHO reported that the threat of global spread of PJ. 2.1 amplifies. The strain was first identified in May 2026, after which it managed to appear on several continents.
According to Malinnikova, Russia has created current test systems designed for all known strains of coronavirus, so with new mutations, domestic doctors retain the ability to identify the virus.
