Vologda veterinarians began monitoring livestock for leukemia, brucellosis and tuberculosis

Veterinary specialists of the Vologda region have started the autumn stage of regional monitoring of farm animals for leukemia, brucellosis and tuberculosis. The work will cover all agricultural enterprises of the region.

From September to December, it is planned to select more than 167,000 serum samples for brucellosis and leukemia, as well as more than 121,000 samples for tuberculosis. This work is carried out twice a year.

Over the past decades, Vologda region remains a prosperous region for these diseases. Disease control in animal husbandry is one of the important areas of work of the veterinary service and a condition for fulfilling the tasks of the national project “Technological support for food security”.

The spread of leukemia, brucellosis and tuberculosis causes great economic damage to the industry, as well as dangerous for humans.
