Chairman of ZSK Yuri Burlachko spoke about the draft of large-scale changes to the current traffic rules, which the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation submitted for public discussion. Among the proposals are age restrictions for drivers of electric scooters and a ban on the movement of pit bikes on public roads.
Burlachko called this project a logical continuation of work to improve the road situation. According to him, in recent years, technological progress has blurred the usual scheme, in which the road is designed for transport and sidewalks for pedestrians.
He noted that on the streets and in the yards people are forced to maneuver between scooters, scooters and other fans of fast driving. According to him, this poses a threat to the disabled, the elderly and parents with children, as well as to the drivers themselves.
Separately, Burlachko drew attention to the problem of uncontrolled use of pitbikes. He stressed that their accessibility, small dimensions and high speed made this vehicle especially popular among teenagers.
He also noted that many adults perceive mini bikes as a toy for children, without thinking about the consequences. According to him, these problems should be solved as soon as possible.
Burlachko said that in the Kuban accidents involving scooters and pit bikes have become an all-season phenomenon. He attributed this to the high population of the region and the mild climate, which allows you to travel by personal transport all year round.
“Given this specificity of the region, the deputies of the ZSK keep road safety issues under constant control. Thus, the profile committee monitors the situation on transport arteries. And at the last session, we established fines for parking personal mobility in the wrong places, commented Yuri Burlachko.
In conclusion, Burlachko expressed confidence that the joint efforts of all levels of government will be able to return the sidewalks to pedestrians and introduce traumatic transport into a strict legal framework.
