For summer tires fine 500 rubles: what threatens Murmansk drivers from December 1
From December 1, a mandatory requirement for the use of winter tires will begin to operate in Russia. For driving on summer tires, drivers face a warning or a fine of 500 rubles.

According to the technical regulations of the Customs Union, from December to February passenger cars must be equipped with winter tires on all four wheels.
Both studded and unstudded tires with appropriate winter markings are suitable. At the same time, it is also impossible to use winter tires with a worn tread: its residual depth should be at least 4 millimeters when driving on a snowy or icy road.
For driving on summer tires in winter, a warning or a fine of 500 rubles is provided. The punishment is established by part 1 of article 12.5 of the administrative code of the Russian Federation.
Thus, after December, it is important for motorists not only to check the presence of winter tires, but also to make sure that they meet the requirements.
In the Kola Arctic, the weather changes before the calendar winter comes. Already in autumn, wet snow, frost and ice are possible on the roads. Therefore, the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Murmansk region recommended that motorists change tires in October. As an indicative date for reshoes, inspectors named October 15.
In October 2026, the head of the region also urged drivers not to travel on summer tires, especially on country roads.
Even after reshoes, it is important to take into account the condition of the road surface, keep the distance and avoid sharp maneuvers. Winter tyres help the car to stay better on the cold road, but does not negate the need to be careful.
