In October, the specialists of the Polar branch of VNIRO explored Lake Lovozero. This was reported by the press service of the institution. There are restrictions on the lake for fishermen.

They wanted to assess the status of stocks of valuable fish, whitefish and trout. Scientists caught the fish, took samples of benthos, which it eats, determined the age and sex of whitefish and noted the places of spawning clusters.

According to preliminary data, the fish reproduces satisfactorily. And this is despite the fact that the load on the reservoir from fishing is quite high.

Last October, experts also checked the state of the lake. Then they determined the species composition of the fish and took samples of benthos and water. Sig made up most of the catch, and trout and char were caught individually. Scientists noted the need for further research, as Lovozero is popular with fishermen, locals and visitors.

During the exploration of the lake there are restrictions on amateur fishing. Until November 30, it is forbidden to fish in certain areas of the mouths of rivers and streams that flow into Lovozero from the west bank. Restrictions apply to zones within a kilometer on either side of the mouth and inland of the lake. They are associated with the protection of spawning areas, as stated on the website of the North Sea territorial administration of Rosrybolovstvo.
